I Am Banned from Facebook for Life!
I had a Facebook account in 2009-2010. I never had any trouble with the account. I was never warned by Facebook of any policy violations. I was never suspended. I had no complaints about Facebook, other than the fact that it just wasn't for me. One day, I simply closed my account.
Fast-forward to November of 2025. I decided to start a new account just so I can scroll through more than one page of other Facebook accounts without being locked out. Even though I didn’t want to “socialize” on Facebook, that didn’t mean there wasn't valuable news and information to consume. I filled out the required information to open a new account. I was then prompted to submit a “selfie.” It had something to do with combatting fake accounts.
While taking a few minutes - too many? - to do this, I get this email: “Hi, Your Facebook account has been suspended. This is because your account, or activity on it, doesn't follow our Community Standards on account integrity. If you think we suspended your account by mistake, you have 180 days to appeal our decision. If you miss this deadline, your account will be permanently disabled.”
What did I do? Is taking too long to upload a selfie a rule violation? The email included a link to appeal the suspension. When I clicked on the link, it took me to the “Upload a Selfie” page. I figured they wanted the photo before they would even consider the appeal.
I was ready to depart Facebook forever when I noticed that I could no longer visit any Facebook page. As soon as I tried to go to anyone’s page, I was presented with the “Upload a Selfie” page. Feeling that it was somewhat important to be able to view “selected” Facebook pages, I uploaded my photo. An hour or so later, I get this email: “Hi, Your Facebook account has been permanently disabled. You requested a review of this decision, but we still found that your account, or activity on it, didn’t follow our Community Standards. You can’t request another review.”
So, I’m banned from Facebook for life for reasons unknown. But I can once again see some of the content on other Facebook pages. If I scroll too much or click on anything, a “Sign-Up” page pops up with no “X” to close it.
I don't care about the suspension. Life has been just fine without that service. I can now see some Facebook content. If that goes away, no big deal.
