12-05-2025 - 5:30 AM - Good Morning! It's Friday, and I'm listening to a conversation in CW (Morse code) on the 40-meter Amateur (ham) Radio band while my Folgers Black Silk coffee is brewing. Later, I'll fire up the President McKinley CB Radio and see what's going on in that crazy but fun world. I just received an email from USPS saying my postage stamp order has been shipped and will arrive on December 1st. It did, in fact, arrive Monday, December 1st. Maybe the U.S. Postal Service is trying to tell me that postal mail is faster than email! My coffee is ready.
+++ It might be hard to believe, but there was once a time when being over your head in debt was a catastrophe rather than an ordinary condition in life.
--- 6:00 AM - My local city transit buses are alive and well, getting ready for another day. There has to be serious federal aid going into this operation, because I never see enough people on a bus to even cover the fuel. Drivers are talking about last night's Cowboys-Lions game. The County Jail is on the air, but it's been on all night! We have a nearby maximum security prison that keeps me entertained, but not as much as our local school buses! Walmart will also be on the air soon. What's on your scanner radio?
--- 1:00 PM - A guy I call the "Sultan of Splatter" was on the air today, but he wasn't splattering - this time. Even without the splatter, the guy is hard to listen to. It's CB Radio, where we get the good, the bad, and the ugly.
--- 3:00 PM - The CB Radio is once again screaming from one end of the band to the other. That's the way I like it. I'd rather have wall-to-wall heterodynes than a dead band. As I said in a previous post, those heterodynes are music to me.

12-04-2025 - 12:30 PM - Another wide load passed through town, with operations being conducted on CB Radio Channel 19. Most of these operations are on Channel 19, at least when they come through my area, but sometimes they can be heard on the various other channels. I catch them when I have the President McKinley in the "scan" mode.
--- 12:40 PM - If you order little speakers, don't be surprised if they send you little speakers! Cute, aren't they? I really have no use for them, but I just had to have them. I guess it's a Hobby Radio affliction.
12-04-2025 - 1:15 PM - The heterodynes are really screaming on CB Radio Channel 19 this afternoon. Strangely, it's music to my ears.
--- 8:30 PM - It was 1976, and I was sitting in the barracks at the Presidio of San Francisco tuning around the extended VHF receive section of my AM-FM radio. Before long, I found a well-known actor talking on his car phone. He was griping about a producer or director. Now, you might say that I’m not supposed to disclose such information. I counter with “no victim identified, no disclosure!” Anyway, he’s dead.
